St. Francis College has actively engaged in the SSE process since its inception by the Department of Education in 2012. Management, staff, students, parents and board of management have contributed to ensure collective and reflective insights are gathered in the area of teaching and learning. By systematically planning for, implementing and monitoring changes and improvements we aim to create a progressive and reflective school.
The current School Improvement Plan linked below outlines our areas of focus including:
Teacher collaboration
Digital Literacy
Embedding the Junior Cycle Framework: Learning Intentions & Success Criteria
Literacy
Numeracy
We will begin a cycle of SSE in the area of Wellbeing in 2022/2023
Currently we are undertaking research in the area of ‘Peer Observation’ involving teaching staff as part of the Forbairt project.
Our school has also participated in the Learning School project with Cork Education Centre. See report and interview below.
