Parents’ Association

St Francis College, Rochestown Parents’ Association

Mission Statement

The Parents’ Association (PA) strives to promote a close relationship among parents, students, staff and the Board of Management.

Led by officers who are nominated and elected annually, the Parents’ Association sponsors, coordinates, and supports services, events, and activities which encourage community spirit, and enrich the educational and social development of our students.

Aim

The main aim of the Parent’s Association (PA) is to foster good relationships with the Principal, Teaching Staff and Board of Management (BOM). The organisation PA is for parents/guardians of students in St Francis College and is run by parents/guardians.

The committee currently has over 30 members who meet and organise activities throughout the year with the Principal and Board of Management. The principal, attends PA meetings (held c. every 6 weeks) and gives updates on educational progress and developments. The meetings are generally on Tuesdays once a month at 7.00pm, are usually less than an hour and are informal. Items important to the school are discussed. Two parent nominees sit on the Board of Management which meets approximately 5-6 times during the school year.

The PA provides refreshments on the Graduation night.

A number of fundraising, social and educational events are organised during the year. Fundraising and social events such as a Bingo Night (held in Nemo GAA Club), a used clothes collection, Trolley Full Raffle, Table Quiz (held in Douglas Golf Club and Nemo GAA Club) and a cookbook of favourite Recipes from parents/guardians, teachers, family & friends have been organised over the years.

In addition, educational talks for parents/guardians have been held such as those on the topics of Consent and Drug Awareness.

The Parents’ Association would not be able to operate without the support from the Principal, BOM, teaching and admin. staff. The support is evident in the relationship the PA has with the school and the support it receives for events it organises. The Parents’ Association thanks the school for this support.
