St Francis College, Rochestown Parent’s Association
The main aim of the Parent’s Association (PA) is to foster good relationships with the Principal, Teaching Staff and Board of Management (BOM). The organisation is for parents of students in St Francis College and is run by parents.
The committee currently has over 30 members who meet and organise activities throughout the year with the Principal and Bord of Management. The principal, attends monthly PA meetings and gives updates on educational progress and developments. The meetings are generally on Tuesdays once a month at 7.30pm, are usually less than an hour and are informal. Items important to the school are discussed. Two parent representatives sit on the Board of Management which meet approximately 5-6 times during the school year.
The parent’s association help on the school open night and also provide refreshments on the Graduation night.
A number of fundraising, social and educational events are organised during the year. Fundraising and social events such as a Bingo Night (held in Nemo GAA Club), a used clothes collection, Trolley Full Raffle, Table Quiz (held in Douglas Golf Club) and a cookbook of Favourite Recipes from parents, teachers, family & friends have been organised over the years. In addition, educational talks for parents and guardians have been held such as those on the topics of Consent and Drug Awareness.
The parent’s association would not be able to operate without the support from the Principal, BOM, teaching and admin staff. The support is evident in the relationship the PA have with the school and the support it receives for events it organises. The Parent’s Association thanks the school for this support.
Finally, anyone interested in joining the Parents Association please contact the school who will put you in touch with the committee.
